Veterinary Assistants
Janna
Janna has many years experience as a veterinary assistant. She has been with Austin Animal Hospital since 1997. Janna has a ≈special affinity≈ with dogs and cats and has a calming effect on many of the patients that she assists with.
Janna’s special interests are diet & nutrition and customer service. She can provide information on the most appropriate food to fit your pet’s special dietary needs.
When not fussing over cats and dogs, Janna can be found playing pool with the "Cheap Shots" in the Challenger’s Pool League, competing in local and regional competitions.
Janna has two children, Dustin and Katelyn. Janna has added a new addition to the family, a Papillon puppy named "Cid". He brings a lot of joy with his handsome face and never-ending energy.
Tonya
Tonya has been in the veterinary health care industry since 1997 and joined us at the Austin Animal Hospital in 2004.
Tonya has a true love for animals with a special affinity & soft touch for our feline patients; having led us to dub her ♥"The Cat Whisperer "♥. With skilled hands and a compassionate heart Tonya can be found performing dentistries, monitoring patients before and after surgery ,assisting Dr Briggs and Dr Gutteridge with many different procedures; maintaining the books and keeping our computers in line. In her spare time Tonya keeps busy by participating in fundraising walks/runs; gardening, reading, enjoying music and entertaining. Her beloved fur-babies, "Kaleidoscope" (a diabetic cat) and "Lucy" (a cancer cat patient) are never far from her side, nor is her human Tomcat. Tonya also volunteers for the Lower Mainland Network for Animals, a voluntary registered charity in the Tri-Cities area that assist less fortunate families and their pets.
Animal Health Technologist
Amy
As a result of her passion for animals and her interest in the medical field, Amy decided a career in the veterinary field would be a perfect match. She was on her way to her ♦dream Job♦ when she was accepted into the Animal Health Technology program at Douglas College. Amy joined the team at Austin Animal Hospital after her first year of school and continued to work there part-time. Amy completed her board exam and graduated. Now a registered AHT she started full-time. She performs a variety of tasks at Austin, she has special interest in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry. Aside from caring for dogs and cats at work. Amy also enjoys working with horses, she has volunteered at Timberline Ranch as a high school Student, and spent a few weeks working at a ranch near Merrit, B.C. after finishing collage.
